Tickets Now On Sale For 2017 Vermont Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Celebration
Tickets are now on sale for the 2017 Vermont Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Celebration presented by Casella Waste Systems. The fifth event will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Burlington, 1117 Williston Road, South Burlington.
The event starts with a reception at 5:30 p.m. with the induction ceremony following dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $75.00 per person and tables for 10 are available. Joining the inductees of the VSHOF's first four classes will be: Olympic skiers Betsy Snite Riley of Norwich, Vt., Lindy Cochran Kelley of Richmond and Martha Rockwell of Putney; coaches Missy Foote of Middlebury College, Ed Markey of St. Michael’s College and Bernie Cieplicki Sr. of Burlington; the father of U.S. Nordic skiing, John Caldwell of Putney; Olympic equestrian gold medalist Tad Coffin of Stratford; Burlington Free Press sportswriter Don Fillion of Shelburne; Golden Gloves champion boxer Tony Robitaille of Newport; hockey and soccer standout Guy Gaudreau of Beebe Plain and Norwich Univ.; mountain climbing pioneer Helmut Lenes of Shelburne; and legendary distance runner Clarence DeMar of South Hero, a multiple winner of the Boston Marathon.
A portion of the proceeds raised by the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame will benefit its designated charity, Prevent Child Abuse Vermont. The event has raised over $10,000 for PCAV since its inception in 2012.
The 2017 class will receive from Gov. Phil Scott their Vermont Sports Hall of Fame granite plaques courtesy of John Pelkey of Memorial Sandblast of Barre. WCAX sports director Mike McCune will be the master of ceremonies.
