Family Support Programs

A photo of a happy family

Welcome and thank you for checking out the Family Support Programs!

In this section of our website, you will find information about a variety of programs and services that PCAV offers free of charge to Vermont parents and families. These include our Nurturing Parenting Programs, Circle of Parents Support Groups, and Parents' Help Line (1-800-244-5373).

Our organization was founded on the desire to help protect and nurture children, strengthen families, and provide opportunities for parents and caregivers to share their successes and challenges in parenting. Our efforts began in 1976 with the establishment of Parents Anonymous support groups. In 1999, these support groups became known as Parents Together. Finally, we adopted the Circle of Parents Support Group model in 2005. Circle of Parents Support Groups are professionally facilitated, peer-led, self-help support groups for parents.

We also have a long history of offering structured, time-limited, curriculum-based parenting education programs. After looking at the impressive research results associated with the Nurturing Parenting Programs beginning in the early 1980’s, we began to offer Nurturing Programs in Vermont. Nurturing Parenting Programs are curriculum-based programs that work with the entire family. We now have the capability of offering a dozen different Nurturing Parenting curricula.

Our Parents' Help Line is a resource dedicated to parents, professionals, and community members for parenting support, resources, and referrals. Feel free to utilize the Parents’ Help Line for immediate support at 1-800-CHILDREN (1-800-244-5373).

Please check out the Nurturing Parenting Programs and Circle of Parents Support Group sections of this website. You will find valuable information about additional resources and volunteer opportunities in other parts of the Family Support section of the website.
