Vermont Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner

Prevent Child Abuse Vermont is the charitable arm of the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame Each year the Hall inducts and recognizes those individuals whose achievements and efforts have enhanced sports, athletics and recreation in the Green Mountain State. Inductees are nominated be the public and the Board. This year’s inductees are Jayne Barber of Bellows Falls (basketball- coach/athlete); Taylor Coppenrath of West Barnet (basketball); Stan Dunklee of Brattleboro (Nordic skiing); Cathy Inglese of the University of Vermont (coach-basketball); Bill O’Neil of Essex (coach- multi-sport); Erin Sullivan Lane of Jericho (distance running); and Tim Thomas of UVM (ice hockey). Award-winning sportswriter and sports editor Ted Ryan of Shelburne is this year’s David Hakins Inductee for excellence in promotion of sports and athletics throughout the state. This is a great chance to meet some of your favorite sports people.

The induction dinner will be held at the Delta Marriott Burlington Hotel on Williston Road in South Burlington on April 30, 2022, time TBA, normally around six pm. Honored that night also will be the ten inductees from the Class of 2020-21, whose original induction was held virtually due to the pandemic. We would like to have a PCAVT table at the event. Tickets are available at: https://www.vermontsportshall.com/dinnerinfo.html and are $75 per person. Half of money raised at the event after expenses go to PCAVT.

Available for purchase is 'Green Mountain Gold', a compilation of biographies of the first eight induction classes of the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame.

The 200-plus page book features bios and photos of all 97 of the VSHOF inductees, opening with an essay on the fabric of sports in the Green Mountain State by award-winning Sports Illustrated senior writer Alexander Wolff, a resident of Cornwall, Vermont.

The book is $35.00 plus shipping and handling with a portion of the proceeds from the book benefiting Prevent Child Abuse Vermont, the VSHOF's designated charity.

Any profits from the book will be split between the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame and its longtime designated charity: Prevent Child Abuse Vermont (PCAVT). PCAVT has received more than $19,000 from the annual induction banquets over the past several years.

The Vermont Sports Hall of Fame, launched in October 2011, is a nonprofit organization designed to recognize individuals whose achievements and efforts have enhanced sports, athletics and recreation in the Green Mountain State..
