Overcoming Barriers to Protecting Young Children from Physical Abuse
This training was developed for professionals; however, appropriate for all. Child abuse prevalence, types of abuse, victim symptoms, sentinel injuries and how to respond are discussed. Common barriers such as denial, lack of clear policies and fear of retaliation will be examined and participants will be encouraged to develop strategies to address them. Taking a mindful approach to multicultural settings and being a responsible bystander are included in this training that gives participants a full tool box of knowledge regarding the prevention of physical abuse to young children.

Shaken Baby Syndrome/Abusive Head Trauma Prevention & Infant Safe Sleep
This training will explain to participants exactly what SBS/AHT is, how it happens, those likely to be offenders and possible outcomes. Additionally, infant safe sleep recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics are taught, Common questions and myths will be addressed. Teaching methods for all types of learning are used; video, demonstrations and discussion is encouraged. Appropriate, and important, for all ages. Free, 1 1/2 hour training. Evaluations will be performed electronically to ensure the program increases the participants knowledge of subject. Valuable information for all professions that may encounter children and/or stressed parents/caregivers

What’s That Mark? When to Sweat the Small Stuff
In this free 60 minute training we will explore sentinel injuries, and how they are directly related to SBS/AHT. You will learn simple, easy to remember, tools on how to determine the likelihood of inflicted injury versus accidental injuries. This training is suggested for adult audiences only due to graphic images.

Understanding & Caring for the Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Infant
Length: 60-90 minutes
This training will assist childcare providers in understanding the special needs NAS infants may have and how to offer support to the parents/caregivers. The Realityworks Drug-Affected baby will be introduced, and participants will review possible physical affects as well as emotional. The Realityworks Drug-Affected baby is an instructional tool to help increase awareness of the harm done by maternal drug use and the challenges to childcare providers that may be presented.
