To all of our program participants and volunteers,
We are living in a different world compared to just a short time ago, shaped by a growing health crisis, a fragile economy, and the upheaval of our everyday lives. We're doing our best to stay on top of developments, but like nearly all organizations and businesses, we have been unable to escape from its impact.
We recently made the painful decision to suspend all of our group meetings (Nurturing Parenting Programs and Circle of Parents Support Groups) temporarily. Now, with Gov. Phil Scott's "Stay Home, Stay Safe" order, the suspension of in person meetings will be extended to April 15.
With most parents and children suddenly at home together with restrictions and limitations about going anywhere, we have to adjust to a big challenge. How can we get along and manage relationships at home over a long period of time? And how are parents to help in the education of their children when schools are closed? There are a lot of resources out there, but many experts say keep it simple, keep regular schedules, and have some fun at home!
Check out these tips on parenting during these difficult times.
Although our groups cannot meet in person right now, our staff continues to work remotely. We are available to discuss parenting concerns and questions. You can contact the Family Support Coordinator in your region or call the Parent's Helpline at 1-800-CHILDREN (800-244-5373).
Please stay safe and support one another!
