Prevent Child Abuse Vermont is pleased to share that Prevent Together has introduced a National Plan designed to address child sexual abuse and exploitation. This new framework offers a structured approach to prevention, focusing on comprehensive and culturally sensitive interventions.
Key Components of the National Plan
The Plan is built around Six Pillars:
Advocacy & Policy - Strengthening policies and advocacy efforts to drive systemic change.
Awareness & Education - Increasing awareness and education to help prevent abuse.
Collaborative Practices - Encouraging teamwork among organizations and individuals.
Funding & Capacity - Securing resources and building capacity for effective prevention.
Organizational Policies & Practices - Developing and enforcing strong policies within organizations.
Research - Utilizing research to refine and improve prevention strategies.
Focus on Inclusion and Intersectionality
The National Plan emphasizes the importance of including diverse perspectives in prevention efforts. It highlights the need for strategies that are culturally sensitive and intersectional, reflecting the experiences of marginalized and underrepresented groups. The Plan also stresses the value of incorporating the voices of individuals with lived experiences of abuse, as well as those who have engaged in abusive behaviors.
Goals of the National Plan
The Plan aims to:
Maintain a strong focus on preventing child sexual abuse and exploitation in public and policy discussions.
Ensure that all children can grow up free from sexual harm.
Establish that child sexual abuse and exploitation are unacceptable in all aspects of society.
Our Commitment
Prevent Child Abuse Vermont supports the principles outlined in the National Plan. By adopting a thoughtful and inclusive approach to prevention, we aim to contribute to a safer environment for children. We encourage everyone to learn more about the Plan and consider how they can be involved in this important work.
