Welcoming Interim Executive Director Marcie Hambrick, PhD, MSW
Montpelier, VT — After 38 years of extraordinary service, Linda E. Johnson has officially retired as Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse Vermont (PCAVT), effective January 2025. Linda’s leadership has been transformative for both the organization and the broader community, shaping PCAVT into a respected voice in the prevention of child abuse and in supporting families across Vermont.
Throughout her career, Linda led with compassion, dedication, and a deep understanding of the complex issues facing children and families in Vermont. Under her guidance, PCAVT expanded its services, reached new communities, and built strong partnerships with other organizations, all while staying true to its mission of creating safe, nurturing environments for children. Her advocacy has helped raise awareness, improve policies, and make tangible improvements in the lives of families and children throughout the state.
As we reflect on Linda’s remarkable career, we are also excited to announce Marcie Hambrick, PhD, MSW, as the Interim Executive Director of PCAVT. Dr. Hambrick has been working in prevention for 20 years in various roles, providing support to children and youth experiencing foster care, supporting pregnant and parenting teens, serving at-risk families through voluntary home visitation services, assisting families affected by intimate partner violence with tools to ensure safety at home, and serving for the past 5 years at PCAVT as the Director of Research and Programs in child sexual abuse prevention. She has a deep passion for child welfare, and a strong academic background to the role. She is highly regarded for her expertise, and her commitment to using research and evidence-based practices to promote the well-being of children and families aligns perfectly with PCAVT’s mission.
Dr. Hambrick is a leader who values collaboration, innovation, and the importance of community partnerships. She is committed to continuing the vital work that Linda has spearheaded, ensuring that PCAVT remains focused on its mission to prevent child abuse and support families across Vermont.
PCAVT expresses its deep gratitude to Linda for her years of dedicated leadership and service. Her legacy is one of compassion, progress, and advocacy for children and families. Linda has transitioned to a new role as a consultant, which will afford her more time to pursue her personal interests and spend more time with her family.
